Periodontal disease

The teeth need a sound foundation of bone and gums to support them.  If there is an imbalance of the support the teeth will eventually be lost.  Most periodontal diseases are preventable with proper oral hygiene, and because pain is not a regular symptom, many people neglect their problem for too long.

Majority of tooth loss in adults is caused by poor periodontal (gum ) health.  The longer tartar (hard buildup) and plaque (soft buildup) stay on the teeth, irritation and red bleeding gums develop leading to bone loss, irritation, and loss of teeth.

Solution:  Routine Oral Examinations (every 6 months or more frequently based on case and dental prophylaxis, and scaling as needed.
